‘Dr Sun’ has a special shine for women’s health

WITH a total of 20 years of experience, a British trained GP, Dr Shiamala Suntharalingam has spent 10 of those years living and working in Canberra.

Dr Suntharalingam graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School in the UK in 1997 and later trained as a general practitioner.

She has a particular interest in women’s health and family planning, including STI check-ups and contraceptive insertion/removal.

Doctor Sun… focuses on providing patient care in an accessible, confidential and inclusive manner.

“Dr Sun,” as her regular patients call her, recently moved her practice, Canberra Family Planning Practice, to Molonglo Valley Medical Center in Coombs, where she works full-time. Dr. Sun welcomes new patients.

In her practice, Dr. Sun says she focuses on providing patient care in an accessible, confidential and inclusive manner. For women, she says, Dr. Sun is able to help women with fertility issues, prenatal and postnatal care, perimenopause and menopause, osteoporosis, breast and heart health screening.

Dr. Shiamala provides care for patients of all ages, from children’s health and vaccinations to chronic disease management.

She is also interested in preventative care, travel and acute medicine, offering minor procedures such as suturing of wounds and biopsy/excision of skin lesions (not head or neck).
