Sint Maarten’s exit strategy towards normality


The Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor, Omar Ottley recently met with the Sint Maarten “exit strategy team” where the Collective Prevention Services (CPS) presented the trajectory and the measures to be taken towards the normality.

The team is made up of CPS, GPs, Laboratory Services, St Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) and the Minister’s office.

At the meeting, the following timeline was established to move towards normalcy:

  • March 25, 2022 – Will mark the end of case management and source and contact tracing by the CPS.

  • April 1, 2022 – Unvaccinated people will be allowed to enter the country with a 24-hour antigen test.

  • April 29, 2022 – This will be the end of community testing in Hope Estate. People will now have to report directly to their GP and testing site.

  • April 29, 2022 – CPS and the Government of St. Maarten will no longer produce daily reports on SARS-COV-2 statistics and will move to a weekly frequency.

  • May 1, 2022 – All testing, investigation and case management of SARS-CoV-2 will be part of existing clinical/public health.
